Simon has painted for the past fifteen years, throughout his career in finance and IT. With
a business degree from Edinburgh University, painting might seem an unexpected interest. In effect it is these
opposites that help create a balance. Simon grew up in Kent and was schooled at Harrow. He has worked in Dubai, New Delhi and
London. In 2011, Simon was elected to the Fellowship of the RSA.
Simon paints in oils and his best known subjects include river scenes in London and gardens
in Kent. More recent themes are the scenery of the tea plantations in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu and parks and
monuments of New Delhi. His aim is to capture mood and his experience, trying to keep a "real" moment in time alive
in his paintings by using vivid colours and energetic brushstrokes, creating a dynamic surface.
